This photo of David Sheridan "Bud" Custer's store on Water Street in Friendsville was taken in 1892.  Minnie May (Friend) Custer dated the back of the photo as "Our Store. 1892".   The couple behind the baby carriage are Bud and Minnie (Friend) Custer.  The baby in the carriage is their eldest son David Harrison "Harry" Custer, born December 1891. The man who is most right in the picture is a brother of Bud's.  The group on the left hand side of the photo are unidentified. Those long poles are fishing poles - the store faced the river." Minnie was a daughter of David Harrison "Harry" Friend and she and Bud were married at Friend's Delight in Sang Run.

This photo is of the inside of David Sheridan "Bud" Custer's store (Photo above) on Water Street in Friendsville.

"D. S. Custer does an extensive business in dry-goods, groceries, furniture and a general line of goods, and is most energetic and preserving. Here the telephone exchange is located and a short visit to the place will convince any person that the business done over the lines here is a large one."  The Republican (January 26, 1904)
