While our members come from all over America, Canada and England, our National Headquarters is located at the intersection of First & Maple Streets in Friendsville, Maryland.

It is housed in the old Bank building and it is the home of the Colonel Lester D. Friend, Sr. Historical Library, the Family Heritage Museum and store described elsewhere on this page.

Saturday and Monday: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

CLOSED Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day

 

SPECIAL OPENING APPOINTMENTS:

Visitors interested in family history and genealogical research at a time when the FFAA library is closed may request a special opening appointment by contacting our main telephone number at 301-746-4960.  Additionally, you may contact Ina Hicks at 301-746-5056 or Ronn Friend at 443-255-8982 or ronnfriend@msn.com for assistance with a special opening appointment.  We respectfully request a $20 donation for a special opening appointment.

Our facility is completely staffed by volunteers. Our hours are subject to change depending on the availability of these volunteers. If you are traveling any distance, please call ahead to make sure we are open.

 

Colonel Lester D. Friend, Sr. Historical Library

Named in honor of our founder, the library is located on the second floor of the Headquarters building, it is equipped with historical and genealogical material primarily related to the Friend and related families. The library is NOT a lending facility, and its resources must be used on site. Genealogical research is available at a small fee – for further information, contact the Librarian.

Family Heritage Museum

Located on the first floor of the Headquarters building, the museum depicts a history of early life in the United States, the history of Western Maryland, and life of the early settlers in this country.

Our National Headquarters is located in Northern Garrett County, Maryland at Route 68, exit 4. Garrett County is the western most county in Maryland.
