BIENNIAL MEMBER MEETING

Every other Year the Friend Family Association of America holds a Biennial Member Meeting of our organization to elect our Board of Directors positions that are due to expire and for other business as is specified by the President.

The location of our 2018 meeting will be held at the Ramada Inn in Cumberland, Maryland on Saturday, October 6, 2018. The meeting will begin at 1:00pm.

No registration fee or reservation is required to attend this meeting.  All hotel reservations and meals, if desired, will be your responsibility.

2018 FFAA Gathering

 

The FFAA has been planning the 2018 Gathering of the Association for over a year.  After a search of potential locations, we decided to have the function in Parkersburg, West Virginia.  This is a city located on the Ohio River where many of those who traveled west passed through in the 1800 and 1900s. This included ancestors of many of the members of the FFAA.

The Board believed Parkersburg would have been a location of interest of many of its members.  We advertised the upcoming Gathering in Newsletters, E-communiqués, on the FFAA website, and flyers that have been passed out.  In early May we had very few registrants for the Gathering.  At the FFAA Board meeting of the FFAA held on May 4, 2018, the upcoming Gathering was a topic of much discussion.  After a review of the costs associated with the Gathering and the interest to date, of the Gathering, the Board voted to cancel the 2018 Gathering to be held on July 12-15, 2018 in Parkersburg.

Discussions are currently underway with the Board members regarding a location date and time for a FFAA Business meeting.   A purpose of the meeting will be to elect Board members to fill the expiring terms, and any vacant Board positions.

We have discussed the upcoming vacant Board  positions in recent communications with the membership.  Nominations to fill vacant Board  positions will be open until the date of any upcoming FFAA Business meeting.  If you are interested in being a candidate, or know anyone who is, to serve on the Board of the FFAA for a 6 year term, please send a short biography to John W Thompson, President, 5910 Lawrence Ct, Adamstown, MD 21710  (johnthompsonco14@gmail.com) .
